Dr. Marie Schiff received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in Cleveland, Ohio in 1989 and her Doctor of Optometry Degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1993. Upon graduation, Dr. Schiff was selected to do a one-year residency program at an outpatient surgery center in Circleville, Ohio. Dr. Schiff had hands-on specialized training in treating all kinds of eye diseases, infections and injuries, as well as fitting specialty contact lenses. Dr. Schiff has also served as a clinic instructor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry and at the Columbus V.A. Hospital. Dr. Schiff is very active in training students interested in optometry and in medical careers, and often has students working for her or observing during eye exams.
Dr. Schiff has been in private practice since 1994. She has two practices, one in Grove City and here in Northwest Columbus. Dr. Schiff has been chosen by many to be their family eye doctor because of her diverse expertise. She has been selected to participate in educational videos for Cable TV and for local news stations, such as Channel 4. Dr. Schiff lectures often to elementary and secondary students in educating them about the eye and the importance of eye safety. She also participates regularly in career days at local high schools.
Dr. Schiff is very active in various professional organizations and volunteer activities to promote eye care. She was elected by her colleagues to serve as Governor for the Central Ohio Optometric Association after many years of service as Trustee, Secretary and Governor-Elect. While serving as Governor in 1997 and 1998, Dr. Schiff received special recognition by the Ohio Optometric Association for her leadership roles in community activities. She frequently donates her time for school vision screenings and for giving free eye exams to the homeless. She also volunteers her time at various charitable fund-raisers for Prevent Blindness of Ohio, Pilot Dogs and other eyecare organizations. One of her most enjoyable volunteer activities is serving as a judge for the Central Ohio District Science Fair on vision-related projects every March. Dr. Schiff has served as a Board Member for Prevent Blindness of Ohio and is currently on the Board for The Episilon-Psi-Epsilon Professional Eye Alumni Fraternity.
Dr. Schiff is also involved in many community and church-related activities in Columbus and in Grove City. She enjoys working out and playing sports. She is active with the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary in raising money for Special Olympics, Easter Seals and in supporting police officers and their families in times of need, as her husband and both her brothers are police officers. Dr. Schiff really enjoys being a "Family Optometrist", seeing people of all ages and serving their individual needs.
Dr. Schiff resides in Grove City with her husband, Todd, and her two daughters, Alissa and Ava.
